National Assembly Moses Wetang'ula has insisted that leaders should respect each other.
During his address at the Holy Trinity Parish in Saboti Constituency on Sunday, Wetang'ula said the journey before them must be undertaken with unity and respect.
He regretted that President William Ruto has served as the Head of the State for two years, yet the leaders often focus on the negatives instead of appreciating the positives.
“It is time to embrace the progress and development our country is experiencing while acknowledging the pending issues that are in the course of being addressed,” he said.
Wetang'ula reminded leaders that they must be truthful and transparent with Kenyans about the strides we are making in development.
“President Ruto recognises that Kenya is not a country divided into halves of one against the other but needs to be a united nation striving for collective growth,” he said.
Wetang'ula said the government and the church must work hand in hand, neither can exist in isolation. Let us come together to chart a way forward for the betterment of our people.
“To our MCAs, your responsibilities are clearly outlined in the Constitution,” he said.
“As the oversight arm of the county governments, you cannot simultaneously serve as the executive’s spokesperson. Understand your mandate and remain committed to fulfilling it. Let us work together to build a better Kenya”.
Speaking on matters of agriculture, Wetang'ula said through a partnership with the World Bank, the government has allocated funds to revitalize the coffee sector.
He said the Cherry Fund is available to all coffee farmers, underscoring the importance this administration places on agriculture as an income earner for families.
“To my fellow Kenyans, while we face challenges in sectors like health and education among others, let us focus on finding solutions rather than assigning blame. Through collaboration, we can address these issues effectively,” he said.
Wetang'ula was accompanied by Trans Nzoia Deputy Governor Philomenah Kapkori, Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang and a host of MPs Innocent Mugabe (Likuyani), Kakai Bisau(Kiminini), Eugene Wamalwa, MCAs among other leaders.
