Mudavadi wishes Raila well ahead of AUC public debate

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has drummed up support for the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in his African Union Commission chairmanship bid.

The CS wished the former Prime Minister the best ahead of the AUC public debate.

According to the CS, the AU headquarters has scheduled the public debate for December 13, 2024.

He praised Raila saying he is the ideal candidate for the AUC chairmanship seat.

“As the African Union Candidate public debate dubbed ‘Mjadala Afrika’ nears having been scheduled for December 13, 2024, at the AU headquarters, we wish Raila the very best,” Mudavadi said.

“We have no doubt that his Pan-African credentials and leadership experience will immensely contribute to the continent’s shared prosperity and champion the causes of peace, unity and development across Africa and beyond.”

Mudavadi said that Kenya had maintained its record in humanitarian support and the country’s commitment to strengthening the role has been demonstrated in fronting an AUC candidate.

“Kenya has fronted one of its son’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the country’s candidate.”

Mudavadi spoke on Monday during the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Kenya’s Diplomatic Journey at KICC.

He said the discussions underscored Kenya’s unwavering commitment to fostering strong ties with nations across the globe, all in pursuit of a peaceful and prosperous world.

“From humble beginnings with just six missions at independence, Kenya has blossomed into a diplomatic powerhouse, now boasting 70 embassies, high commissions, and consulates worldwide. This remarkable growth highlights our expanding influence and deepening global partnerships,” Mudavadi said.

“As we honor our rich diplomatic legacy, we also look boldly to the future. The upcoming Foreign Service Academy and strategic plans will enhance Kenya’s global presence, strengthening our commitment to Pan-Africanism, regional leadership, and shared prosperity.”

Raila was on November formally unveiled Raila’s African Union Chairmanship candidature in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

During the event, Raila shared his vision and strategic priorities, aimed at driving Africa’s socio-economic transformation.

The platform enabled him to engage with a network of African Union stakeholders, fostering partnerships and laying out his proposed agenda for the continent’s advancement.
