People dancing/FILERachuonyo East Sub County Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Job Kemey has said the practice is not allowed anywhere in the country.
“Even the night vigils when people have been bereaved should not go beyond 10 pm,” he said.
The DCC was speaking at Jwelu Vocational Training College in the Ramula location. Kemey also put on notice bars and clubs with too much noise, saying this must come to an end, adding, “Whether you have a permit or not for the live band, it's unethical to encourage such noise.”
Elsewhere, speaking in Karabok Primary School, Rachuonyo South subcounty, police commander Philemon Saera said disco matanga was to blame for the spread of diseases and criminal activities like murder.

“Disco matanga is banned in the entire country, and as security organs we will make sure the directive is implemented as it is,” the police commander said.
Saera asked chiefs to ensure the ban is enforced in their areas of operation to ensure there is no such activity.
“Let’s mourn and also allow the bereaved to conduct their ceremony without any other additional burden because of disco matanga,” he said.
The police commander warned that they will confiscate all disco matanga music systems whenever such cases occur.
On bars and clubs, he said they should operate until 11 p.m., saying anybody operating beyond that time will be arrested, saying already they have started a crackdown on such bars in the area.
