Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has insisted that the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs staff uphold integrity and accountability.
Speaking on Monday, as senior officials and staff signed performance contracts for the Financial Year 2024/2025, Mudavadi said commitment to service to the people and diligence form a great part of success in public service.
“I want to remind the heads of these institutions and many others together with the staff of the commitment to duty, integrity, diligence and accountability as essential ingredients within the public service,” he said.
Mudavadi said the Performance Contracts outline the government’s strategic goals and measurable targets within various cadres of public service delivery.
He said the contracts aim to enhance public safety and security while upgrading the delivery of services to citizens.
The Prime CS said the annual exercise is a cornerstone of accountability and it provides a structured framework to track the progress of the government's development programs and policy implementation.
“Through these contracts, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing Kenya’s development goals and transforming lives under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), ensuring delivering of results that align with our national priorities, fostering efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and measurable outcomes in service delivery,” Mudavadi said.
Principal Secretary of State Department for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu was present during the exercise presided by Mudavadi at the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Railways, Nairobi.
Some of the senior officers who signed performance contracts include the Chairperson Council of Foreign Service Academy, Prof Patrick Maluki and Mwambu Mabonga, the Chairperson Public Benefit Organizations Regulatory Authority.
All senior state officers sign performance contracts including Cabinet Secretaries and Principals secretaries.
The exercise is usually overseen by President William Ruto.
CSs signed their performance Contracts this fiscal year on November 19, 2024.
During the signing, Ruto made it clear that he expects each Cabinet Secretary to take personal responsibility for achieving the targets outlined in their ministry’s contracts.
“There is no room for excuses or delayed failure. Accountability must cascade through all levels of ministries, departments and agencies to individual officers,” the President said.
