Ruto nominates Ababu as ambassador

He has been nominated as Permanent Representative of Kenya to the United Nations Environmental Programme

President William Ruto has named former Sports CS Ababu Namwamba as the Permanent Representative of Kenya to the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP).

Namwamba has been nominated alongside three others.

They are the former CS for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Margret Nyambura Ndun'gu named the High Commissioner in Ghana.

Getrude Angote has been nominated to the High Commission in Zimbabwe.

Angote is currently serving as the Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Andrew Karanja, who previously served as Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, has been nominated as Kenya's Ambassador to Brazil.

"His Excellency the President has today made nominations, re-assignments and appointments to the senior ranks of the Executive. The nominations effected are in regard to individuals to serve the Nation in its foremost policy organ - Cabinet - as well as in the Foreign Service," read a circular signed by the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei on Thursday.

"The Head of State and Government's Executive Action re-aligns Ministries, State Departments, and Kenya's Foreign Service to optimize performance and enhance service delivery as set out in the Administration's revitalized plan under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA)." 

President William Ruto nominated former Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe as the Agriculture CS.

Kagwe is set to replace the current CS Andrew Karanja who has been nominated as Kenya’s Ambassador to Brazil.

Ruto also nominated Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui for the position of Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry. If approved, he is set to replace Trade CS Salim Mvurya.

The President further nominated former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo to the position of the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy.

If approved by Parliament, Kabogo will replace  Margaret Nyambura who has been nominated as Kenya's High Commissioner to Ghana.

The Head of State re-assigned Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to the Ministry of Interior.

Murkomen is also the former Cabinet Secretary for Roads, Transport, and Public Works.

The President further made changes in different state corporations.

Ruto nominated Ndiritu Muriithi the Chairperson, of the Board of Directors, of Kenya Revenue Authority, Anthony Mwaura Chairperson, Board of Directors, of Kenya Rural Roads Authority and Kembi Gitura

Chairperson, Board of Directors, Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and  Research Hospital.

This marks the second time the President is making changes in his cabinet.
