Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has said that while she has not had a chance to talk to impeached former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, it doesn’t make him her enemy.
According to Karua, Gachagua has also not sought an audience with her and she remains open for any engagements.
“I have not talked to him; he has not sought me out but I cannot rule out talking to anybody. He is not my enemy. Kenya has one common enemy called William Ruto and his regime, and we better be focused as Kenyans. The fact that I have not sat down with him does not make him my enemy,” she said during an interview with Citizen TV.
Karua noted that while the former Deputy President may have said things that annoyed her, that can be fixed.
She gave an example of her relationship with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta whom they have had many disagreements before but remain friends.
The Narc Kenya leader, however, said that currently Gachagua operates on a different space and she is in her own space.
“He (Rigathi Gachagua) may have done things that irritated or annoyed me but that's life. People can always fix the broken. At the moment we are not talking he is operating in his sphere, I'm in mine and we also have brothers whom we have differed politically like Raila and even Uhuru's latest move that's a political difference but they remain my brothers and friends,” Karua stated.
Gachagua has been going around the Mt Kenya in efforts to consolidate the vote rich region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He has also been talking about uniting the region’s leadership since his impeachment from the Office of the Deputy President.
During the interview, Karua also spoke about his relationship with former President Uhuru Kenyatta who backed her and Raila Odinga’s candidature in the 2022 general elections.
According to her, they remain great friends, despite Uhuru choosing to work with President William Ruto.
