A pedestrian has been knocked down by a speeding car at the Kinungi blackspot on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
St John Ambulance reports that the victim survived the accident but sustained serious injuries.
"The pedestrian survived with serious injuries and has been rushed to Naivasha Subcounty Referral Hospital.
"St John Ambulance first responders from the Kinungi Highway First Aid Post are currently at the scene, providing first aid and recue services."
The emergency response agency said as the first car slowed down after the accident, another car following closely behind ended up hitting it.
It said it the free first aid and rescue services are courtesy of the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF).
Authorities have called for utmost caution by motorists and other road users during the festive season to avert road crashes and fatalities as people travel to celebrate with loved ones.
Already, a number of lives have been lost on the roads in multiple motor accidents across the country, the latest being a fatal head on collision between a Nissan matatu and a boda boda in Nyakach area on Boxing Day.
The accident claimed the lives three people and left three others nursing serious injuries.
Police said the motorcycle was carrying four people - the rider and three pillion passengers.
The matatu was travelling from Kisumu headed to Homa Bay town while the boda boda was from travelling from Nyakwere.
Three of those on the motorcycle perished on the spot on impact, police said.
Three occupants of the matatu who sustained injuries were rushed to St Anne Nyadero hospital for treatment.
