A group of women gathered on Monday to express their frustration over the ongoing abduction crisis in Kenya.
Dressed in sacks, the women sang the National Anthem while pleading for an end to the abduction menace that has caused widespread fear.
The demonstration, which took place on Kimathi Street, was a powerful display of the anguish mothers across the country are experiencing due to the rising cases of abductions.
As they lifted the Kenyan flag, the women demanded the release of prominent cartoonist Kibet Bull, who was abducted in December 2024.
Kibet remains missing, and his whereabouts are still unknown.
“Ako wapi Kibet? Kama Wakenya na wamama tunauliza ako wapi (Where is Kibet? As Kenyans and mothers, we want to know where Kibet is),” the women chanted.
While the peaceful demonstration unfolded, a Land Rover full of masked individuals patrolled the Nairobi CBD, adding to the tension in the area.
So far, four of the six people who were abducted in December have been released, including Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli and Rony Kiplangat.
