Academic giants in the Central region have continued to raise the flag high in national examinations.
Murang'a High School has so far posted 50 A plain, 104 A minus, and 111 B plus.
According to deputy principal Stephen Kareithi, the school is yet to verify results for 27 out of the 436 candidates.
Kareithi, however, noted that the school has recorded a major improvement from last year's KCSE, where it had 15 As and about 60 A minus.
"We are very proud of our school's performance, and from our analysis, we could be having the highest number of As in the region," Kareithi said.
In Nyeri county, Kagumo Boys High School also excelled in the examinations with 41 As, 104 A minus, and 116 B+.
In the neighbouring Kirinyaga county, Baricho Boys High School has so far recorded 30 As and over 100 A minus.
Principal Bernard Mwangi said the school has recorded a slight improvement and is expecting the mean score to rise from last year's 9.274.
"Last year, we had 25 As and 87 A minus. We are happy that our candidates have outdone themselves this year, and we hope to do even better next year," he said.
The school had 475 candidates, many of whom are expected to achieve university grades. Njiiris high school in Murang'a also registered an improvement with 6 As and 15 A minus so far.
Moses Njoroge, the school's dean of academics, said they have only managed to acquire results for 30 out of 540 candidates.
"We are disappointed that the results are trickling in so slowly because the server keeps failing. The government should make sure the server is working well so all candidates can get their results in time."
Njoroge, however, noted that they acquired only 3 As, 45 A minus and and 67 B + last year, meaning they have already surpassed last year's performance.
This year, the school had a target of posting a mean score of 9.134 marks and that the performance registered so far is well within their expectations.
"We scored a mean score of 8.01 last year, and we are sure to surpass that this year,' Njoroge said.
