Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has criticised some leaders from Central region who are pressuring President William Ruto to deliver on stalled projects.

Sakaja pointed out that Ruto has only been in office for two years, and people should exercise patience with him.

He emphasised that, unlike his predecessors, Ruto has brought about significant changes and made strides in improving the economy within a short period of time.

Referring to the unfinished Mau Mau road, Sakaja reminded the leaders that four previous presidents collectively held power for 58 years, yet the road remained incomplete.

“Ruto has been in office for two years, you expect him to have completed that road surely? Why can’t you give him time, and he will sort that problem?” he posed.

“I think we have been very unfair on you your excellency,” the governor told the President.

Sakaja made the remarks during a Sunday church service at the United Pentecostal Church of Kenya, Nairobi, which Ruto also attended.

The city governor, however, acknowledged that the pressure directed at the President by his enemies was because they know him as a performer.

He said this is the first time Kenya has not imported maize and sugar as part of various interventions in agriculture sector.

Sakaja said unlike previously where importers would mill around Kilimo House for maize import licences, this time round they have been absent.

Regarding hisnown track record, the governor urged city residents to be patient as he addresses challenges noting that they did not begin recently.

"I am deliberate about Nairobi. These problems didn’t begin last year; they go back 30 years. We are committed to solving them with the county government,” he assured.

The President revealed that the national and county governments have allocated Sh4 billion to address Nairobi city’s road infrastructure.

"The incomplete roads left by NMS will be finished. We will ensure Nairobi becomes the city we all dream of,” Ruto said.
