Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged leaders to stop politicising development projects.

Kindiki encourages the leaders to instead do constructive criticism of the Kenyan Kwanza administration’s programmes and performance.

He insisted that no part of Kenya will be left behind because all citizens have a right to access government services.

Speaking after inspecting the ongoing works at Nduluku and Mwaani, Kindiki urged Kenyans to remain united and always have respect for one another.

“No part of the country will be left behind because Kenyan citizens have the right to access government services. I urge you to remain united and respect each other,” he said on Thursday.

The Deputy President noted that Kenya is a democratic state and any ideological differences should not make the people enemies.

He added that the government is focused delivering on its mandate, and when the time for politics comes, they will move to politics.

“We will do political things when the time comes, and democratic matters are not enmity or war, they are normal things. The citizens choose, the elected leader thanks God, the one who loses thanks God, waits for the next time when God will grant victory.

“We have one country. God gave us all the land of Kenya, and no one wrote a letter to be born a Kenyan. We are working hard, and no part of Kenya will be left behind in development,” Kindiki added.

During his address, the DP noted that the government is fast tracking the construction of the Sh2.4 billion Tawa-Nguluni-Itangini road in Mbooni, Makueni County.

The construction began on May 30, 2024, with the entire project is expected to be complete by June 30, 2026. The road is 20 per cent complete.

Kindiki also inspected works on the 20-km Kikima-Kyambalasi Road, which is 92 per cent complete.

He also engaged residents on other government priorities, including improving electricity connectivity, availability of water for irrigation, and households, as well as other interventions for boosting the local economy.

“We have a number of programmes, power programmes, I’ve already said we want to connect 21,000 new households here in Makueni with the power. We want to increase water reticulation, and the solution for water in Makueni and Kitui is the Thwake-Muti purpose dam, which is over 80 per cent complete. I will come to inspect the works one of these days, and once complete, the President will commission.”
