Prime CS hosts delegation from Kabianga University

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Thursday hosted a delegation from Kabianga University at his office.

The team was led by the Chairman of the University’s Council Bosire Monari and Vice Chancellor Eric Koech.

As a friend of the University, the Prime CS was briefed on the key progress of the institution which has grown in student numbers.

The university population has grown from 155 students in 2007 when it was a campus of Moi University to a student population of over 11,000 currently.

This is after becoming a fully-fledged University in 2013 when the Late President Mwai Kibaki awarded it the charter.

Among other issues discussed, included academic, development and research matters.

The Prime CS assured the leadership of his support to the institution on request in various spheres of academic and research as well as development matters.

He commended the University for scaling up agricultural advancements saying Agriculture remains the mainstay of driving Kenya’s economic growth coupled with manufacturing and production supported by technological advancements.

The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary in the Office of the Prime CS Aurelia Rono and other leaders from the University including Deputy Vice-Chancellor Maurice Oduor, Director Research Issa Mwamzandi and Director Corporate Affairs Pius Chumba.

Earlier, Mudavadi joined President William Ruto in welcoming the new Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Guo Haiyan.

Mudavadi hosted the new ambassador at his Railways HQ offices Thursday.

He assured her of strengthened partnerships between Kenya and China, citing Kenya's support in key areas of economic advancements.

This is after the ambassador presented her credentials to the Head of State pledging to enhance Kenya-China bilateral relations.

Their discussions focused on deepening consultations between Kenya and China to support key sectors, especially large-scale infrastructure projects, ICT, energy, education, climate change, governance, peace, security, and political stability.
