Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has emphasised that his role is to ensure that his boss, President William Ruto, succeeds.
Responding to critics saying he is mobilising Mt Kenya region for Ruto, Kindiki said he will mobilise Kenya in its entirety, adding that Mt Kenya is part of the country.
“My work is to ensure that President William Ruto succeeds in his job as our head of state and government. I will go far and wide, to ensure that the Kenya Kwanza Administration's transformative agenda is successful,” he said.
The DP spoke on Friday during a meeting with leaders and opinion shapers from Embu County, at his official residence in Karen, Nairobi.
Kindiki vowed to work hard to ensure that all development projects are complete, and many more initiated, adding that then, the President will launch them.
He told the leaders that in the next three years, the Kenya Kwanza administration hopes to go back to the people of Embu and all the other 46 counties with tangible results.
“I know we promised a lot and I believe if we work hard and in unity, we will score an A at the end of the first five-year term,” he said.
Kindiki reiterated that he has decided that his work is to help the President unite the country and bring development to every part of the nation.
He said he will also ensure that Ruto succeeds in changing the economic fortunes of all Kenyans through the successful implementation of all the economic value chains.
“That is the difference between politics and leadership,” he added.
Kindiki has been meeting with various leaders from the Mt Kenya region, with speculations arising that he might be consolidating votes for the 2027 general elections.
Mt Kenya East has a combined vote bloc of slightly over 1.3 million votes, according to the electoral commission’s 2022 voters register.
