President William Ruto has insisted that division, hatred and tribalism must be a thing of the past in the country.

Speaking on Wednesday, Ruto called on all leaders and Kenyans to be united and work as a team towards achieving the country’s development.

He went on to say that when the country unites, just like it is with the many leaders from the Western region working with him, they will make sure Kenyan children have access to quality education.

Ruto added that they will collectively work towards improving agriculture and connecting electricity to all parts of the country.

This way, the President said, Kenya will develop further and move forward.

Kenya hatutaki tena migawanyiko na chuki na ukabila. Tuungane tuwe team moja.

This loosely translates to, “We no longer want divisions, hatred and tribalism in Kenya. Let's unite and be one team. Raphael Wanjala was elected on an ODM ticket and he is very stubborn. My brother Paul Otwoma, we were elected in different factions but now we have decided that we are one team. We will work together to make sure that we educate your children, we help improve agriculture and connect electricity. We will also plan development so that Kenya can move forward. We do not need the business divisions, hatred or tribalism.”

The Head of State spoke during the launch of the extension of the secondary dyke for River Nzoia flood control project, in Budalang’i.

He was accompanied by among other leaders Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

The President and his principal assistant are on a five-day extensive tour of the Western Kenya region.

Wednesday is the third day of the visit.
