The year has begun with the horror of murder.

This week, at least six cases of murder have been reported.

Here are some of the cases:

A butchery attendee killed over missing meat

A confrontation between two butchery attendants that was triggered by the loss of meat ended tragically when one of them was fatally stabbed in Ranen Market, Migori County.

Police and witnesses said the incident happened on Monday, January 20 evening, when the two attendants quarrelled over an unknown amount of meat that had gone missing.

Police said Geoffrey Ouma, 35, was stabbed to death by a suspect known to him.  He had a stab wound in the back.

Police said the two were blaming each other for having reported to their employer about the loss of meat at the butchery and a slaughterhouse where both the deceased and the suspect had been working.

The owner of the premises was concerned about the loss of meat and launched a probe into the same when the two started blaming each other.

The suspect surrendered to the Ranen police post after the killing, police said.

The killer weapon was also recovered.

He was processed pending arraignment for murder, while the body of the deceased was moved to Rapcom Hospital mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Police probe incident where a body was found on the roadside in Nairobi

On Tuesday, police launched an investigation into an incident in which the body of a man aged about 45 was found on the roadside in Kamulu, Nairobi.

The victim did not have identification documents at the time of the discovery of the body but had multiple injuries all over and blood was oozing from the mouth and nose, police said.

Police said the victim seemed to have been attacked and killed at the scene and they are yet to establish the motive of the same.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy, police said.

Body of an unidentified man found on the roadside

The body of a man was found on the roadside along Mombasa Road in Athi River after a suspected murder.

Pedestrians stumbled on the body Tuesday before calling police, who said when they found the body at the scene they realized it had a bullet wound.

The bullet had entered from the lower back spine and exited through the abdomen.

Police said there was blood oozing from the exit wound.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased could have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the scene.

The body did not have any identification documents at the time of its discovery.

The body was moved to the Shalom Community Hospital Mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

Man arrested while carrying wife’s body parts.

On Tuesday, police arrested a man carrying a human thorax believed to be that of the dismembered body of his 19-year-old wife in Huruma, Nairobi.

Police officers on patrol met the suspect in the morning at around 5 am while carrying a suspicious bag.

They stopped him and conducted a search and found the thorax of a female human stashed inside a cement bag.

Upon interrogation, the suspect identified himself and claimed that the body parts were of his wife and he was headed to dump it in a river, police said.

The suspect told police he quarrelled with his wife in their house in the area before it turned tragic.

He claimed he hit her and she fell unconscious before he realised she was dead.

It was then he used a knife to dismember the body and stuffed it into a sack for transportation to a river in the area.
