Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi now says that he cannot criticize President William Ruto’s administration.

Speaking in Siaya on Saturday, Wandayi said that it is not his job and no one should expect him to do that.

He added that his job as a member of the Cabinet is to execute the policies of the current administration,  something he said he will continue to do.

The CS added that as a member of the Cabinet, he also wants criticism so that he can do his work better.

To those who want to criticise the government, Wandayi insisted that no one has stopped them from doing so and if they do it, they must do it properly.

“There's a time for everything and that's what our people must understand. Nobody has stopped you who is outside Cabinet from criticizing the government. You can continue criticizing it until the cows come back home and do it properly because I also want to be critiqued as a member of the executive for me to deliver services properly but don’t expect me to join you in criticizing the executive that can’t be my work.

“If it is your work, do it properly as I do mine which is to execute. Since the beginning of last year, Kenya has seen some very positive changes,” the Energy CS said.

His remarks were directed at a section of ODM leaders who have been calling on members of the party currently serving in Ruto’s government to also criticize the administration.

These leaders have been asking their peers in Cabinet to criticize the administration for better service delivery.

They joined the government last year when President Ruto dismissed his entire cabinet and instead chose to work with the opposition wing affiliated with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
