Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has told off some leaders who have been ‘advising’ him to oppose some of President William Ruto’s policies.
Speaking on Wednesday, Kindiki said that, that is not the job of the Deputy President and that these characters are addressing the wrong person
He went on to say that any person who wants to oppose the government must do it from outside the government.
“There are characters I see advising me to oppose the president and I'm wondering is the work of the DP to oppose the President? Is that the job description? Those characters advising me to oppose the president are addressing the wrong person. Maybe they are talking to somebody else, not me," the Deputy President said.
“Those who want to oppose the President should leave government and do it from outside.”
The deputy president spoke as he hosted a delegation from Tharaka Nithi County to deliberate on priority development projects and the implementation of government programmes.
He met the delegation at his official residence in Karen, Nairobi.
The Deputy President insisted that one cannot serve in the same government they are sabotaging.
Kindiki added that he knows and fully understands his job, which is to support, supplement and assist the President in delivering on his mandate and commitments to the people of Kenya.
He further stated those who want to oppose should do it from outside and wait for them in the ballot in 2027.
“You cannot be the DP and sabotaging the same government or in Cabinet flying a flag and then you are sabotaging the same administration. Fight us from outside. We are ready for you in 2027," Kindiki said.
“I have to support the President, I have to fight for him, assist and supplement him because he cannot be everywhere that is the work of the principal assistant to the president,” he added.
