"One thing about sports is that it is an expensive undertaking especially when you consider we compete locally and even at the international level and that is why your assistance is appreciated and welcome,” said Aranduh.
He noted that other than the women’s volleyball team, other KPS teams have been faring well in their different areas. The men’s volleyball team, he said, are the national champions.

Madison Insurance will partner with the Kenya Prison Service in equipping prison warders and other KPS staff with essential skills to safeguard their mental wellness.
The underwriter would avail financial advisors and counsellors to different KPS stations who would guide employees of KPS on different aspects of managing their finances but also coping with the pressures of life including work-related stress.
Patrick Aranduh, Commissioner General, Kenya Prisons Service welcomed the move, noting that the lack of mechanisms to cope with stress and other mental health issues has had a toll on many people.
“Financial management and stress management is key for us. One of the challenges that we have in the country is mental wellness. When you get trained on stress management, you realise that all issues including financial problems can be managed through proper stress management and good mental health,” he said.
“We need to plan our finances from the day we get employed. We need to understand how to grow our finances and develop ourselves. We will always have dependents, be it our children or relatives, financial needs will always be there and the best way to get advice is from professionals.”
Offering financial advice and counselling on mental well-being will be an extension of a corporate social responsibility programme that Madison is running with KPS.
On Wednesday, the firm presented the Kenya Prisons volleyball with uniform and other training equipment.
“We are committed to supporting the financial well-being of individuals. We will conduct a series of presentations for KPS staff focusing on stress and finance management that will equip them with skills to manage stress effectively and make informed financial decisions thereby enhancing their general health and productivity,” said Joseph Gathogo Head of Ordinary Life Madison.
“These presentations will be highly beneficial to the staff, providing them with practical tools and strategies to navigate the challenges they face in their demanding roles. It is stressful everywhere and especially in your career where you are dealing with human beings.”

The Kenya Prisons volleyball team is a highly skilled and competitive team that has won major trophies not just in Kenya but in Africa.
The Kenya Prisons Sports Council noted that despite the high performance, the team has been experiencing financial constraints and unable to meet some of its needs.
“One thing about sports is that it is an expensive undertaking especially when you consider we compete locally and even at the international level and that is why your assistance is appreciated and welcome,” said Aranduh.
“I want to appreciate the volleyball team for being the top team. Last year, out of the 12 players in the national team, seven or eight players were from the prison team. The team has represented the country through the years at international competitions.”
He noted that other than the women’s volleyball team, other KPS teams have been faring well in their different areas. The men’s volleyball team, he said, are the national champions.
“The equipment will go a long way in assisting our team. We have always hoped to get a partner who can stand with our teams. We are grateful for your gesture,” said Aranduh.
