While many may not be accustomed to the idea of polyamory, American singer and songwriter Shaffer Chimere Smith, popularly known as Ne-Yo is not has decided to live the reality.
The father of seven first went public about his polyamorous relationship in an interview in 2024.
He, however, warned that the practice is not for everybody.
“I didn't know it was illegal. You should let people do whatever the hell they want to do. Can't see how it's hurting anybody… I don't need the government to tell me what I can and can't do in my personal life,” he said.
Adding that, “I don't recommend anything to anybody, what works for me might not work for you, or vice-versa.”
He would later on say that he has no limit to how many women he can have relations with.
According to Daily Mail, the 45-year-old keeps himself busy by taking care of his three different wives, Bella and Phoenix Feather (both Only Fans models) and Arielle Hill.
The four are proudly polyamorous.
Polyamory is the practice of, or the desire for, romantic relationships with more than one partner at the same time, with the informed consent of all partners involved.
Although not legally married, Ne-Yo refers to the ladies as his ‘wives’ and they all call him ‘daddy’.
They are never shy of parading their wild lifestyle on social media, including when they go to night clubs or attend high-end parties.
The sister wives accompany Ne-Yo whenever he is on tour regardless of where he goes.
Despite sometimes facing criticism, the three women have always defended their relationship.
“Yes we're in the public eye and we know people are gonna voice their opinion, that's what's expected. she wrote.
“But y'all need to understand over here it's a solid foundation we understand each other. We stand on 10 when it comes to each other a lot of people will never understand that and that's cool just know it's US VS NOBODY,” Phoenix wrote on Instagram.
Ne-Yo was previously married to Crystal Renay from 2016 until their divorce was finalised in 2023. The divorce came barely five months after they had renewed their vows.
The ex-wife claimed that the RnB singer had been unfaithful to her for eight years.
“Eight years unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous women.
“To say I'm heartbroken and disgusted is an understatement. To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist. I choose me, I choose happiness and health and my respect. I gained three beautiful children out of this but nothing else but wasted years and heartache,” Crystal said.
In another interview with Atlanta Black Star last August, Crystal said that she never would have married Ne-Yo if she knew that he was into polyamory.
In 2023, Ne-Yo's ex Monyetta also claimed that the singer's obsession with threesomes led to their breakup.
