ODM leader Raila Odinga has started his meet-up consultative tour with a series of planned meetings within the Nyanza region.
Raila is currently in Kisumu meeting youth leaders from the eight subcounties and county ODM officials.
The ODM leader is holding the meeting at Kisumu City Hall.
He's accompanied by Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o, Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro, and Assembly Whip Seth Kanga.
Raila arrived in Kisumu on Monday afternoon, accompanied by his brother, Oburu Oginga, and MP Junet Mohamed.
He was warmly received at the Kisumu International Airport by Nyong'o, who also serves as the acting party leader.
The meeting comes shortly after Raila’s recent engagement with President William Ruto in Mombasa, where they discussed various national issues.
Raila will do a briefing after the meeting.
On Monday, Raila said he would consult his party on the next move.
Speaking at State House, Mombasa, after talks with President William Ruto, Raila said he will soon be meeting his supporters and friends for consultations before making his next political move.
“I am going to consult widely and in due course we are going to announce our way forward,” he said.
The talks between the two leaders focused on the concluded AUC elections in which Raila lost to Djibouti’s Mahamoud Ali Youssouf after getting the requisite 33 votes in the 7th round of voting.
The ODM leader also stated that his party was ready to work with others for national unity.
He further thanked President Ruto for his full support throughout the campaign as he stressed that his decision to run for the seat was personal.
