President William Ruto on Sunday donated another Sh20 million to church during service at AIC Fellowship Annex Church in Eldoret and vowed to continue supporting building sanctuaries despite heavy critism over the huge donations.

Ruto acknowledged that there was a big controversy in the country over donations to churches but extensively quoted the Bible to defend his actions.

At the end of his speech, Ruto said the Annex church last week raised an amount which he would supplement by giving double the amount as his personal donation.

The church had raised Sh10 million during the fundraising last week and Ruto doubled it and donated Sh20 million to help complete the church construction by the end of the year.

The President last week donated a similar amount at Jesus Winners Ministry in Nairobi.

The President said by the grace of God and as the leader of the country, his actions would be driven by Biblical teachings.

“There is controversy because Satan has become so arrogant in this country. Very arrogant,” Ruto said.

He went on to quote the book of Daniel 11:32, which says: “Those who know their God will be strong and they will do great exploits".

He said despite the pushback, God would be known in Kenya.

"I want to say that in this nation called Kenya, God will be known and we will do great exploits."

Ruto said the pushback against giving to God and against building places of worship was driven by people who do not believe in God.

He further quoted Mathew 16:18 where Jesus told Peter: “You Peter, I'm going to build my Church on this rock and the gates of hell shall not prevail.”

LIkewise, Ruto said those opposed to building of churches would fail.

He said as long as he is the the leader in Kenya, the country would know God and believe in Him.

“That is what it is and that is my conviction,” Ruto said.

“I want to say that to ashame the devil and those telling us that we cannot stand with the Church and build sanctuaries so that they do things which take us back.”

Ruto said the youth in the country were facing challlenges like drug abuse, alcoholism and immorality, hence the need to strenthen churches for moral guidance.

“There are people who are telling us that we should not be concerned about the moral standing of our nation. We should, we will and we must,” Ruto said.

He reiterated that he will remain firm to help the country move foward.
