Genitals, toes missing as man's body found in Machakos

Police in Machakos are investigating an incident in which a man was found dead with his genitals and toes missing.

The lifeless body was discovered by a herdsman in a bush within the County area, behind the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit headquarters located in Athi River sub county on Sunday.

The matter was reported to the Athi River police station as a murder incident.

"It was reported by herdsman through the OCS SGR police station Athi River that a lifeless body had been spotted at County area in a bush about 1 kilometre behind CIPU headquarters," police report seen by the Star read in part.

The unknown male adult, aged about 45 years, had both his hands tied with a manila rope, had multiple deep cuts on the head and bruises on the back and hands.

Police said the deceased's genitalia and toes were missing.

The scene was documented by Scenes of Crime personnel, and the body was moved to the city mortuary pending identification and an autopsy.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives attached to the Athi River police station have launched investigations into the incident.

The incident happened a day after a man was murdered by suspected gang members in Mlolongo, Machakos county.

Police said Joseph Mutula Mule’s body was discovered lying in a pool of blood at the Makanisani area within Mlolongo Township on Saturday morning.

The matter was reported to the Mlolongo police station as a murder incident.

Police proceeded to the scene and found the body also had visible cut injuries on the head.

The man, according to the police, was killed by members of an outlawed gang.

“The information received from locals indicate that a gang was spotted in the night baying for the blood of anybody in the area in a revenge mission of their members who were killed by mob last week in the same place,” the report read in part.

The deceased is said to be the caretaker of ABC church who was caught unaware.

The body was taken to Shalom Community Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.

The case is pending investigation.

The DCI Mlolongo has launched investigations into the incident.

Elsewhere, human body parts were recovered in the neighboring Kinanie division, within the same Athi River sub-county, on Friday.

The incident was reported to the Kinanie police post as the recovery of human body parts incident report.

Police said the incident was reported to the post by the Kangemi village elder on Friday.

The CSI officers processed the scene, and necessary actions were taken.

Police removed the body and took it to Nairobi City mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

The DCI, Athi River, has launched investigations into the incident.
