Kenya Police in Haiti came together to hold a memorial service for one of the officers, Samuel Kaetuai, who succumbed to gunshot wounds by criminal gangs on February 23.
The memorial service was held in Artibonite, Haiti, to honor the late Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai.
The officer was among a team that had embarked on a mission to crush a gang operating in the area when he was shot and seriously injured.
Kaetuai died while receiving treatment in the Aspen Level Two hospital.
His father, Kaetuai Salaash, mourned the death of his son, terming it as tragic and a big blow to the whole family.
Salaash said he was informed of his son’s demise on the morning of February 24, by police officers who visited his home to break the news.
His death marked the first casualty on the Kenyan team since they arrived there on June 25, 2024, to help the Caribbean nation contain criminal gangs.
