Professor Edward Kisiang'ani, the nominee for the Presidential Economic Council and outgoing Principal Secretary State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, has heaped praise on the media, citing it as a promoter of culture.

Speaking at the launch of Zee Dunia, an Indian show set to bring programmes in Swahili and English, Kisiang'ani said the media is vital for public advocacy and cultural heritage.

He advocated for the broadcasting of local content, saying a country is what it consumes.
