Police officers have arrested four individuals suspected to be hardware burglars in Machakos.
Police said the arrests were made in a well-coordinated operation, where the suspected mastermind and his two accomplices were nabbed.
The officers said the trio are believed to have been terrorising Machakos and Joska neighbourhoods, orchestrating a series of audacious hardware break-ins.
During the arrest, authorities recovered a motorcycle used by the suspects as their getaway vehicle.
They also seized tools of the trade, including a bolt cutter and a long metal rod allegedly wielded to intimidate watchmen during their criminal escapades.
During the same operations, detectives also managed to arrest another suspect in Machakos town.
The fourth suspect led the detectives to a scrap metal dealer, revealing a hidden stash of stolen goods from a Joska hardware store.
Police said among the haul were 200 kilograms of nails, 25 kilograms of hoop iron and a laptop.
Digging deeper, detectives discovered that three of the suspects were ex-convicts recently released from Machakos GK Prison.
The suspects have since been put in police custody awaiting court day.
Meanwhile, the recovered items are securely stored as exhibits.
