
George Oduor was a dependable rock, Raila mourns aide

George Oduor died on Wednesday, April 2, while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.

In a statement following his death, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, he will be laid to rest at his home in Ndori, near Bondo.
“Our comrade George Oduor will be laid to rest on Friday, 11/4/2025, at his home in Ndori, next to Bondo,” the party said on Thursday.
It further said that condolence books could be found at the party headquarters in Lavington and the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation office in Upper Hill, Nairobi.
“Meanwhile, condolence books have been opened at Chungwa House on Loyiangalani Drive in Lavington and JOOF offices in Upper Hill, Matumbato Road.”

The former Prime Minister mourned his long-serving aide and bodyguard as a dependable rock not only to him but also to the larger Jaramogi Oginga Odinga family.
Raila described Oduor, who passed on Wednesday, as someone who was always vigilant and extremely professional in discharging his duties.
The ODM leader said that he will dearly miss his bodyguard.
“George has been a part of Jaramogi's and my family since the late 80s. We have stood, fallen, and risen together.
“He has been a vigilant, calm, confident, and extremely professional aide dedicated to duty and dependable rock on my side all these years through tumultuous periods. I will miss George, and I am sorry to the myriad friends who miss him already,” Raila said.
“To his wife, Carol George, entire family, colleagues, and friends, I offer Mama Ida's and the entire Jaramogi family's sincere condolences at this devastating loss. May the almighty rest his soul in eternal peace.”
Oduor started working with Raila’s father, Mzee Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, in the late 1980s.
He joined Raila’s team after the death of Jaramogi in 1994.
Several leaders, including allies of the ODM leader, also condoled with Oduor's family, some describing him as not only a friend but a brother in the quest for liberation.
