Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has slammed leaders who want to sabotage President William Ruto’s administration, saying that he will not be part of it.

Speaking in Ol-Kalou on Thursday, Kindiki said that those intending to do so should instead join the opposition.

He insisted that his role as Deputy President is to assist and support President William Ruto, and he will do exactly that.

“There are people I see in the newspapers who do not know the work of a Deputy President. It is to support and assist the president, it is not to fight with him and sabotage the government. Those who want to fight the President and sabotage government should join the opposition because is not the work of government,” Kindiki said.

The DP who had accompanied Ruto on a development tour of Nyandarua county said that in supporting Ruto, he will ensure that all state programs and presidential directives are implemented faster for the benefit of wananchi.

He also defended the regional tours by President Ruto, saying that he is only presenting his progress report after two and a half years in office.

“The President is here to serve you courtesy of the many votes you gave him in the last election. After two and half years in office, he is here to present to you a progress report.”

To those criticizing him for his loyalty to Ruto, Kindiki said that he will continue to be a yes man to the President.

He explained that past Presidents of Kenya were also once loyal to the people who were in charge of the country before them.

Kindiki said that he is following their footsteps.

“Mzee Moi was loyal to Mzee Kenyatta, and he rose to power; Mzee Kibaki was loyal to Mzee Moi, and he was blessed; Uhuru was loyal to Kibaki and he rose to power, Ruto was loyal to Kenyatta and he rose to power. I will be a loyal assistant to our President. I will be a Yes man to the President.”
