Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday met former Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) Irungu Nyakera, who was fired by President William Ruto last week.

In a post seen by the Star, Nyakera, who shared pictures of their meeting, said that the Mt Kenya region remains more united than ever.

He said this is despite the recent development that saw the end of relations between President William Ruto and Gachagua.

Nyakera thanked the former DP for sharing his wisdom and advising him on the way forward.

“Because the mountain was shaken, it is now more united than ever before. Asante your excellency @rigathi, for your words of wisdom and great counsel,” he said.

After being dismissed from the KICC job, Nyakera was replaced by Samuel Waweru.

In the recent past, Nyakera, despite serving the Kenya Kwanza administration, had become a critic of some of the activities of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Gachagua has been holding meetings with leaders who have, in one way or another, fallen out of favour with the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He has also reached out to leaders from the opposition coalition Azimio, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa (DAP-K), and Martha Karua (PLP), among others.

He has been having the meetings at his Wamunyoro and Karen homes.

He recently announced that he would launch his party in February as he lays the groundwork for the General Elections.

The former DP's allies have confirmed that plans to unveil the political vehicle are complete, as Gachagua seeks to affirm his influence in national politics.

He also wants to consolidate his Mount Kenya heartland, which has become furiously restive since his removal from office.
