In a heartfelt message to the nation and the Christian community, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki commemorated Resurrection Sunday with a call for peace, unity and spiritual renewal.

Reflecting on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Kindiki described it as the most consequential victory over sin and evil.”

His message emphasised hope and transformation.

“As the commemoration of the events that permanently changed the world closes, may our families experience renewal,” he said.

Kindiki urged Kenyans to embrace unity and to work together toward lasting harmony.

May we dwell in unity, peace, and liberty. May our homeland remain prosperous and secure into the future, and its people free from fear of all forms,” he said.

“Happy Resurrection Sunday to all Christian brothers and sisters in Kenya and throughout the world.”

The message comes amid a season of reflection and celebration for millions of Christians, as churches across the country held services to mark the resurrection of Christ.

The resurrection of Christ marks a foundational event in Christianity that symbolises triumph over death and the promise of eternal life.

It reminds Christians that no matter the suffering or darkness, there is always the promise of light and redemption.

The resurrection is seen as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies and Christ's own predictions about His death and resurrection.

Christians believe that Jesus' death and resurrection conquered sin and death, offering salvation to all who believe.

It is also a time for self-examination, gratitude, and recommitment to living a life of faith, compassion, and service.

Easter Sunday is about worshipping Jesus, attending church, including a sunrise service, singing praises and reading Scripture.

Easter is preceded by Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance, and it is celebrated on Easter Sunday, which falls between March 22 and April 25, depending on the lunar calendar.
