KDF to launch initiative for curbing terrorism funding

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will on Tuesday hold a training programme aimed at curbing terrorism financing operations.

The event will be held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Upper Hill, Nairobi, from 8 am.

The training will be held from Monday, April 22, to Saturday, April 26, 2025.

The event will be presided over by Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya.

The event, organised by the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), seeks to strengthen institutional and individual capabilities in combating terrorism financing and money laundering.

It combines legal expertise, modern technologies and international cooperation while promoting public awareness on associated risks and prevention measures.

KNEC to hold 2nd annual symposium on CBA

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will hold the 2nd Annual Symposium on Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) from Tuesday, April 22, to Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Edge Convention Centre, College of Insurance in South C, Nairobi.

The theme this year is “Mobilising Assessment Data Usage for Equity in Learning, Instruction and Shaping the Policy Agenda”.

KNEC has urged those seeking more information on the programme and speakers to visit the National Assessment Centre (NAC) website, https://nac.knec.ac.ke/annual-symposium/.

KNEC held the Inaugural Annual Symposium on CBA in April 2024, to keep abreast with the ongoing education reforms in Kenya that have led to changes in assessment practices and reporting.

Probe ongoing after suspect dies by suicide in police cells

Authorities are still investigating an incident where a suspect was found dead after a suspected suicide at a police cell in Kaloleni, Kilifi County.

The incident happened at the Bamba police cell on April 20 in the morning, police said.

The victim was identified as Chrispus Baraka Kifalu alias Kitsau. He was 18.
