Woman surrenders to police after stabbing brother-in-law to death in Makueni

A 23-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her brother-in-law to death in Mbooni East, Makueni County.

According to police, the woman surrendered herself to officers shortly after committing the act on Saturday evening at Ivumbu village in Utuneni Sub-location, Mbooni East Sub-county.

Mbooni East Sub-county Police Commander Ephraim Karani said the motive behind the killing had not yet been established.

“The suspect presented herself at Ngiluni Police Station after committing the heinous act,” Karani told reporters on Sunday morning.

He confirmed the woman is currently in custody at the same station as investigations continue. She is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday to face related charges.

In a separate incident in Kitengela, Kajiado County, police are investigating a fatal road accident in which a woman was crushed by a trailer on Friday.

The woman was reportedly returning home from Athi River G.K. Prison, where she had visited her remanded husband.

She was riding on a bodaboda when the accident occurred within Kitengela Township.

“The woman was on a bodaboda when the incident happened,” a source, who requested anonymity, told The Star.

According to the source, the rider was to drop her at the Kitengela bus park, where she would board a matatu to her rented home in the Tuff Foam area, where she lived with her family.

An eyewitness said the boda boda operator lost control of the motorcycle, leading to the fatal crash.

The woman was run over by the trailer and died on the spot. Her husband is said to have been remanded at the prison after being arraigned in a Machakos County court.
