At least six people have been injured after a shooting on a school campus in central Sweden, according to a statement from the Orebro regional authority.
Five of them have gunshot wounds and of those, four have undergone surgery - the fifth and sixth are considered to have minor injuries, the statement reads.
One of the people in hospital is thought to be the perpetrator, police say, warning more may be injured.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said this is "a very painful day" for the country.
Students and staff were kept inside buildings when police thought the attacker was still at large - they are now being evacuated.
The shooting happened at a school for adults, although there are children's schools on the site.
Police first warned people to stay away from the area at 13:20 local time (12:20 GMT).
Soon after, they confirmed four people had been shot, before the number increased to five.
The authority had previously said that the number of people hospitalised there had gone up to six.
Orebro regional authority adds that the Orebro University Hospital is offering more hospital beds or treatment if needed.
A teacher at the Risbergska school has described the moment she and her students escaped as shots were fired.
Maria Pegado tells the Reuters news agency that she threw open the door to her classroom just after lunch break and shouted to everyone to get out.
"I took all my 15 students out into the hallway and we started running," she says, adding: "Then I heard two shots, but we made it out. We were close to the school entrance.
"I saw people dragging injured out, first one, then another. I realised it was very serious."
