There was a heavy police presence at the Nairobi Central Business District in anticipation of a planned protest.

Most shops in the CBD remained closed as traders and business owners feared the destruction of their property.

Despite the Thursday chilly weather, some protesters took to the streets before they were dispersed by police.

Some protesters have since been arrested, even as police in civilian clothes patrol the city.

It is expected to be "the mother of all protests" and the final of the demonstrations that began on June 18, 2024.
