In Summary

  • People should talk about their feelings with a trusted friend or family member or therapist if they feel they need professional help.
  • Exercise can help to release pent-up emotions and reduce stress, which can contribute to feelings of anger.

Recently we have witnessed a surge in wrong decisions made out of anger—murder is on the rise among couples, university killings and brutal slaughtering are being reported across the country.

All these in one way are associated with anger. It will be noble to curb and control anger and deal with it before it gets out of hand.

Anger is a normal emotion that can be healthy when expressed constructively. However, when anger is not managed correctly, it can lead to negative consequences such as damaged relationships, physical health problems and legal trouble. This is especially concerning for the youth, as they are still in the process of developing emotional regulation and coping skills.

It is essential for people to learn how to express anger healthily. One way to do this is through communication. People should talk about their feelings with a trusted friend or family member or therapist if they feel they need professional help. This can help them to understand the source of their anger and find ways to address it.

Another effective way to manage anger is through physical activity. Exercise can help to release pent-up emotions and reduce stress, which can contribute to feelings of anger.

One should also try to find activities that one enjoys, such as sports, dancing or martial arts, to help oneself channel his/her anger in a positive way.

Another way is through mindful practices, such as meditation or deep breathing exercises. These practices can help one to become more aware of their thoughts and emotions and to develop strategies to manage them.

It is also essential to understand that everyone has different triggers for anger and to be aware of their own personal triggers. Once everyone knows what triggers their anger, they can take steps to avoid or manage those situations.

Another important aspect is that people should understand the difference between assertive and aggressive behaviour. Assertive behaviour is standing up for yourself respectfully without hurting others.

Aggressive behaviour is trying to impose your will on others, often in a harmful or abusive way. Assertive behaviour is healthy and can help one to express anger constructively, while aggressive behaviour is toxic and should be avoided.

In conclusion, anger is a normal emotion that we may experience. It is important to understand that it is okay to feel angry and to learn how to express it healthily.

Let us learn to open up when we feel we are choked by life’s hurdles. If one is having problems managing their anger, it is recommended to seek professional help to avoid chronic anger effects and foster an anger-free generation.
