Foreign Affairs for  Principal Secretary  Korir Sing'Oei, officially inaugurated the newly-formed Council of the Foreign Service Academy.

The inauguration took place with the goal of enhancing the country’s diplomatic training infrastructure and ensuring Kenya remains at the forefront of international relations and diplomacy.

The newly formed seven-member Council brings together representatives from key institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, the National Treasury, the Public Service Commission, the Kenya School of Government, academia, and other crucial sectors.

"These institutions formed will provide strategic policy direction to the Foreign Service Academy, which plays a pivotal role in training diplomats to navigate an increasingly complex global environment, " Sing`Oei said.

During the inauguration, Sing'Oei emphasized the Council’s importance in shaping the future of Kenya’s diplomatic corps.

He described the event as a landmark step towards securing Kenya's leadership in regional and global diplomacy.

“The challenges and dynamics of modern diplomacy are shifting rapidly,” Sing'Oei remarked.

“Our diplomatic service must be highly skilled and ready to meet the demands of a changing world.” 

He continued to say that with the rising importance of specialized fields such as cyber diplomacy, science diplomacy, health diplomacy, space diplomacy, environmental diplomacy, and trade and peace negotiations the diplomats must be well versed.

" Kenya’s diplomats must be equipped to tackle emerging global challenges and effectively represent Kenya’s interests on the international stage," Sing'Oei said.

The Council members, including Patric Maluki (Chairman), Beatrice Kituyi, and Kenneth Mutua, along with representatives from the National Treasury, the Public Service Commission, and the Kenya School of Government, said they will work to ensure operational excellence in the Academy’s diplomatic training programs.

Sing'Oei restated that the Foreign Service Academy plays a vital role in maintaining Kenya’s influence as an anchor of peace and stability in Africa and beyond, urging the Council to uphold the high standards required to prepare the next generation of Kenyan diplomats.
