President William Ruto on Tuesday met with envoys from the United Kingdom at State House, Nairobi.
The President met UK Foreign Intelligence agency M16 Chief of Service Richard Moore and British High Commissioner to Kenya Neil Wigan.
The President said that Kenya and the United Kingdom have a strong relationship ranging from diplomatic, investment and business to defence and security.
“Our two countries also share common values of democracy, the rule of law and peaceful resolution of conflicts,” the President said.
Ruto noted that during the meeting, the leaders discussed counter-terrorism, peace and security measures in the Eastern African region.
Earlier, the President also met the Japanese Ambassador to Kenya Okinawa at State House Nairobi.
Ruto bid him goodbye as he completed his tour of duty in Kenya.
The President said Kenya and Japan have had cordial and excellent diplomatic, investment and trade relations for the past 60 years.
During this period, he said, the ties between people from both countries have grown from strength to strength.
“Our two countries have also worked together in implementing an impressive development programme in infrastructure, agriculture, education and training,” he added.
Ambassador Okaniswa has met other leaders who commended him on forging bilateral ties between the two countries.
On October 16, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi also bid farewell to Ambassador Okaniwa Ken.
Mudavadi commended Ambassador Okaniwa for his invaluable contributions in strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between Kenya and Japan.
He said that his dedicated efforts have fostered greater cooperation, highlighted by recent high-level engagements between the two countries.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga also bid Ambassador Okaniwa farewell saying he has fond memories of working with him to promote excellent relations between the two countries.
“The warm friendship and cooperation between Kenya and Japan have continued for more than six decades since our independence,” Raila said.
