So much has been said about Sauti Sol's band member Chimano; from his dressing to how he carries himself.
But that has never stopped him from living the life he sees fit and being the talented artiste he is.
Well, the question that many have been asking or rather concluding as been answered.
Speaking to Mpasho during the Sol Fest press conference held at the Nairobi Street Kitchen, Chimano for the first time revealed that he is part of the queer community.
"It is the first time I am expressing myself in a song. You really get to know who Chimano is and that is a heavy crown to carry," he said.
The singer, who recently released his first solo, Friday Feeling, said the song represents ball room culture in the LGBTQ community.
"It is just a representation of the underground ball room culture within the queer community... which I am part of.
"That is just my first expression of who I am. I am laying everything bare from now on. No hiding anymore. Lets do it," he said.
On why he chose to put everything in the song, Chimano said, "sexuality doesn't define you it is just about me putting myself out there, my creativity and living my own truth. Figure out what your own happiness is most importantly with yourself. Gather your own life."
He added, "As I get older, I have a bigger perspective of life and who is it I am supposed to be. It is not about what everybody else thinks I should be."
On their much awaited concert, Chimano said they are ready to perform having prepared for the show for two years.
"Just fireworks and amazingness. It has been two years of preparation and we are just ready to perform. It is all sold out and we are just grateful. It will be something big," he said.
