Gingerbread refers to a broad category of baked goods, typically flavored with ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon and sweetened with honey, sugar, or molasses.
Gingerbread foods vary, ranging from a soft, moist loaf cake to something close to a ginger biscuit.
Gingerbread originates from ancient Greeks and Egyptians who used it as a ceremonial offering.

Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cup of All-Purpose Flour
- ½ tsp Baking Powder
- ½ tsp Baking Soda
- ¾ tsp Cinnamon Powder
- ½ tsp Ginger Powder
- A pinch of ground cloves
- ¾ cup of Water
- ¼ tsp Salt
- ½ cup of Honey
- ½ cup of Oil
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup of Brown Sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Then line a 20 cm square baking pan with parchment paper and grease it well with oil. Set aside.
Step 2
Bring to boil ½ cup of water, take it off the heat and add in honey and mix well. Add in baking soda and mix well.
Step 3
Now add in ¼ cup of water and mix well. Set aside so it gets cold.
Step 4
In another bowl, add flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger and mix well. Set aside.
Step 5
Take oil, brown sugar, and the egg and mix well.
Step 6
Add in half of the flour mix and fold gently before adding in all the honey mix and the remaining flour.
Step 7
Pour the runny batter into the cake pan and bake this for 40 to 45 minutes till a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Step 8
Now remove it from the oven and cool it down completely.
Slice the loaf into squares and enjoy with milk or your preferred beverage.
