Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz was allegedly paid Sh10 million to perform in Kasarani over the weekend.
Diamond was the key artiste to attend Azimio La Umoja's last rally before the elections.
According to Tanzanian reports, the Bongo superstar was paid TSh196 million, which is equivalent to Sh10 million, to perform for only 30 minutes.
Azimio also gave him travel allowance although he used his private jet.
The singer flew in a private jet from South Africa with his daughter Tiffah Dangote and his dancers.
He was then picked at the airport by an Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance political chopper to Kasarani under tight security.
The internationally recognised singer had supporters of the Azimio la Umoja coalition on their feet as he sang along to some of his greatest hits.
Diamond kicked off the performance with his 'Baba Lao' hit, modifying the lyrics to praise Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua.
The superstar performed for about three minutes, after which Azimio leader Raila Odinga took the podium to address Kenyans.
During the performance he also drummed up support for the former Prime Minister, saying the country believes in him and he is the next President of Kenya.
"As the youths, we support you and we believe in your leadership. You are our next President," Diamond said as he shook hands with Raila Odinga.
After Raila's speech, Diamond returned on stage and performed for about five minutes with other Azimio la Umoja political leaders.
Other artistes who performed at the rally were Femi One, who performed 'Bendera Ya Kenya', a collaboration between her, Iyaani and Trio Mio, 'Lero' hitamker Emmanuel Musindi and Milka Otieno.
Some Kenyan artistes had mixed reactions to the decision of the party to pick Diamond instead of other Kenyan musicians.
Juliani said that Kenyan artistes would have served the purpose even better.
"Diamond in Kasarani was distateful. Any Kenyan talent would've sufficed," Juliani wrote.
Eric Omondi called out Kenyan artistes, terming them "boring, predictable and complacent" as he congratulated his friend Diamond Platnumz.
Sauti Sol's Bien said not all artistes are interested in performing at political rallies.
"We don’t want to be in political forums such as these," he wrote.
