How you take care of your shoes after purchasing them determines how long you will have them for.
Buying good shoes is one thing and maintaining them is another.
However, knowing your shoe size and the type of feet you haven is key.
The first step is getting a shoe that fits perfectly and comfortably.
The shoes should not be too small or too big so that it does not compromise future maintenance.
Furthermore, shoe hygiene goes hand in hand with foot hygiene.
Here's how to maintain your shoes;
1. Proper cleaning
How you clean your shoes is a determinant on how well they will be maintained.
It is important to note that cleaning is different and dependant on the type of shoe.
White shoes need extra attention. If they are stained bleaching them would be ideal and a tip is covering them in white tissue when they are wet so as to leave them out to dry.
Leather shoes could be wiped instead of fully washing them.
2. Don't over wash
You absolutely do not need to wash your shoes every day.
The most you could do is wipe off the dust using a clean cloth and maybe clean the bottom of the sole.
Immersing the whole shoe in water every now and then will reduce their durability.
3. Avoid dragging your shoes
This applies to when you are walking. Lifting up your feet while walking is key.
Dragging your shoes gradually damages the sole.
4. Wind-drying as opposed to sun- drying
Exposing your shoes to the sun could make them fade faster.
You could put them out in the sun to dry but not for too long, airing them out in windy place would be ideal since they can dry without fading.
This will help in maintaining them for a much longer time.
5. Purchasing original shoes
Spending that extra coin to get a good quality shoes is better than purchasing a shoe that will not last that long.
The life span will be determined by the quality of the shoe.
