Nigerian mobility tech startup Treepz has ventured into the Kenyan market following the launch of the local branch, Treepz Kenya.
The launch comes just over a year after its arrival in Uganda and Ghana.
Kenya is the firm's main focus as it seeks to expand operations in the East African region.
Kenya now becomes the fourth country where the firm has ventured since its launch in September 2019.
Samar Patel was named the country manager for Treepz Kenya.
Patel boasts of 18 years of experience in the sales, transport and technology roles having recently held a similar position with SWVL Kenya.
“Under his leadership, it is expected that Treepz Kenya will continue to grow and innovate in Kenya,” the company said in statemen.
Operations will be concentrated in Nairobi but Treepz is looking to expand and later launch operations in Mombasa.
The ride-hailing company has also had a strong focus on the vehicle rental service.
The company has signed up a number of companies to provide commuting services for employees and students.
They include Abacus Schools, Diamond Trust Bank, OAK House School, and Twiga Foods with 20 more companies across Kenya in the pipeline.
Treepz CEO and co-founder Onyekah Akumah said that after winning the GSA African Award in Cape Town last year, they received support from the funding arm, GIIG Africa fund which was timely for them.
He said their efforts are focused on building a centralised solution across the four countries they operate in.
They also aim to provide African with excellent mobility services for its personal and business needs.
“We hope this will be the experience Kenyans will enjoy with our service and remember, as we build a world-class mobility business for Africans and the rest of the world,” he said.
Treepz emerged as the African winner at the 2022 African Startup Awards under the industrial tech category.
