Genge tone artist Paul Julius alias Jua Cali has narrated how he was disappointed after a failed interview with a certain company not knowing that it paved the way for his new beginnings.

Jua Cali dates this back to 2004 when the incident happened. He says for the opportunity to have worked an interview was mandatory.

In a tweet, he says he was shortlisted for the campaign interview alongside other artists.

"There was this campaign, some of the artists were shortlisted and I was also included, before you get the gig there was a need for an interview which took place," he said.

On the interview day, Jua Cali used public transport to get to the interview venue.

"I boarded the vehicle to town, after arriving I walked to The Chancery Valley road which was not far. I was welcomed warmly and after a brief introduction, the interview started," Jua Cali said.

The meeting consisted of three people. Two ladies and himself.

The musician was surprised by the first question concerning the type of car he drives.

"I swear I am not lying, that question caught me off-guard because in my mind I was like how does the question connect with the campaign," he added.

"Ama hawa wasee waliniona kwa dirisha nikitembea wanajaribu kunipima."

He said he was truthful and answered the question accordingly.

"I don't own a car actually I came here using a matatu," he said.

He says that there were additional questions that were music-related he was asked that he couldn't recall.

Immediately after the interview ended the musician added that they were given instructions that they would be contacted if they had made the cut.

After the interview, Jua Cali headed home devastated since everyone was waiting for the good news.

"When I reached home, I sadly told them that I can't see any breakthrough. What I remember is that my mum and Clemo's mother instilled hope in me by telling me to relax for my time will come," he said.

After a few months, Jua Cali recalls seeing Trust billboard advertisements with other artists. That is when he realised he did not stand a chance.

With that in mind, the musician did not give up and continued with his music career.

"The most important thing is that I believed so much in myself and I never gave up and continued with my song release," he said.

After two years Jua Cali recalls how he landed to be Motorola's brand ambassador and he states how he got himself into the corporate world.

"Who is God, after two years I became Motorola's brand ambassador and that is how my journey started in the corporate world," he said.

He said people should not give up on their dreams no matter what.
