Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has addressed claims about being physically assaulted by her baby daddy Samidoh.

The allegations came up after a photo of Nyamu surfaced online on Friday, in the picture she seemed to have a swollen black eye, something that she has since denied.

Nyamu took to her Facebook page to address the rumors saying Gender Based Violence(GBV) is a serious issue affecting Kenyan women and she can't keep quiet about it if affected.

“I am here to raise awareness about GBV and to emphasize that it is not something to joke about. If I ever experience that, I will come forward and seek justice. I have not faced any physical abuse since the last time I talked about it,” Nyamu said.

Nyamu further said she was not bothered by the talks on social media and those making fun of it, especially women.

"You know I am not one to care about what people say about me. Whatever you want to say about me, go ahead. I really have no issue and when there is no discussion about me I get a bit worried," she said.

The UDA-nominated senator spoke on the sidelines of the Scout and Girl Guide function in Nyeri on Friday, presided over by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi.

In August 2021, Nyamu accused Samidoh of beating her and smashing her phone.

She had alleged being assaulted yet she was three months pregnant with their second child.

"I have been beaten, my hair has been removed and I am just three months pregnant. We women are so stupid, we have to teach these violent guys a lesson. I am shocked, my daughter has cried," she said.
