They're usually healthy, filling and easy to prepare.

The beauty of salads is that, they can complement meals as a side, act as starters or be meals on their own.

They come in a variety of recipes and flatter both vegan, vegetarian and non vegetarians alike.

Origins depend with salad of choice.

You can actually play around and create your own recipe using your favourites.

Ingredients:

  • - 1/2 avocado
  • -2 large tomatoes
  • - 1 red onion
  • - 1 yellow bell pepper
  • - 1 red bell pepper
  • - 1/4 chicken breast
  • - 4 slices of bacon
  • - 1 whole lettuce
  • - 1/2 cucumber
  • - olives
  • - salt to taste
  • - salad dressing of choice.

Method

Boil the chicken breast and shred it to desired sizes, for extra flavour your can shallow fry it in low cooking fat and some spices to add crunchiness to it.

Fry your bacon strips, let them cool then shred them accordingly.

Slice and dice all your vegetables then in a large bowl combine them.

Start with the lettuces then top everything else, drizzle salt and mix until evenly distributed. Add the chicken and bacon strips then mix the contents in the bowl.

Pour salad dressing on top of the meal, add mayonnaise (if you're a huge fan like me) then stir one last time.

Let it sit in the fridge for a while before serving.

Like I said, easy peasy, you're done with everything.

Note: you can cook your capsicums for a few minutes in a large pan to enhance their flavour. You can also add a pint of ground black pepper if you like heat in your meals.

Enjoy your loaded healthy salad.
