Samosa is a fried or baked pastry with a savoury filling, that includes ingredients such as meat, chicken, spiced potatoes, onions, and peas.
Depending on the region, samosas may take different forms, including triangular, cone, or half-moon shapes.
In Kenya, most samosas are triangle in shape and mostly have minced meat filling, potatoes or mashed green grams(Ndengu) or other cereals can be added.
Ingredients:
- Samosa Patti
- Vegetable oil
- Onion - 1 large sliced thinly
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tsp
- Black pepper
- Garlic
- Turmeric
- Chili Powder - 1 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
- beef (minced)
- Salt to taste
- Sugar - ½ tsp
- Coriander leaves a handful of finely chopped
- Oil for deep frying
- All-purpose flour
- Water - as needed to make a paste
Preparation
Step 1
Pre-boil your beef(minced meat)
Step 2
Using a pan, over medium heat, heat a little oil then add your beef and saute while adding onions, garlic, ginger, black pepper, salt, turmeric, chilli, garam masala, and coriander. Set aside.
Step 3
Take a sheet of samosa Patti, lay it in front of you, spoon some beef filling in and fold it like a samosa.
Once you fold it to the end, apply the paste made with flour and water and fold it to stick it.
Step 4
Heat some oil for deep frying, drop in the samosa and fry till golden.
Step 5
Drain and set aside.
Enjoy with a hot beverage or preferred choice of cold drink
