The name mincemeat is a carryover from 15th century England when mincemeat did indeed have meat in the mix; in fact, the whole point of mincemeat was to preserve meat with sugar and alcohol.
Today we are going to prepare a yummy meal of mince meat.
Ingredients
1/2kg minced meat
1 medium sized onion thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, grounded
Black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
1 flat tsp of tomato paste
1/4 cup of water
Fresh coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Vegetable oil
Directions
1. In a pan, put some vegetable oil and fry the mincemeat until brown.
2. Add the onions to the fried minced meat and cover for a minute to soften.
3. Then add the grounded garlic and fry until aromatic.
4. Add your seasonings. The soy sauce and black pepper as you stir well
5. You can now add some tomato paste and little water.
6. Stir well and cover with a lid letting it simmer for about 5min.
7. Add your finely chopped coriander leaves.
8. You can enjoy your hot meal with carbs of your choice, either rice or spaghetti.
