Renowned American rapper Calvin Broadus alias Snoop Dogg has announced he is giving up smoking marijuana.
Through his X post, the rapper said the decision came after much consideration and conversation with his family.
"I've decided to give up smoke, please respect my privacy at this time," part of the post read.
The announcement made on Thursday came with mixed reactions as some of his fans claimed he's chasing clout, while others wished him well in his new journey.
Dolan alleged that Snoop is working on a campaign, hence the announcement.
"This is probably just gonna be some viral campaign where he launches his own line of vapes or edibles or something," he said.
Greg said; "Today isn’t April Fools' Day Snoop,”
“Snoop about to become an edibles legend,” another wrote.
Juan wrote: Health above anything else. Snoops setting a great example to everyone. Respects.
Barry said: "As somebody who has watched literal millions of people die from marijuana overdoses, this is a very brave act by you, Mr. Dogg. The pro-marijuana establishment will criticize you but you must not relent!!"
Letterman said: "Thank you for this, Snopes. I’m a youth football coaching legend, and I teach my players that sensible injections, which come from the earth, are far healthier than weed, which is grown in a lab. And I make them take injections even if their parents object."
Snoop, 52 years old, had in previous interviews opened up about his marijuana use, and expressed how he advocates for the drug as it is medicinal.
He revealed he had been legally allowed to use the substance to treat migraines.
In 2013, through his X account, while engaging with his fans, Snoop confessed to smoking up to 81 marijuana blunts per day.
Snoop was responding to a question on how many blunts he smoked in an hour.
"81 in a day - do the math," he replied.
