As part of Netflix’s crackdown on account sharing, the firm on Tuesday launched “Profile Transfer”, a new feature to encourage free loaders to finally pay for their own accounts.

As the feature rolls out today globally, Netflix subscribers will be notified through email.

The company says it will charge more, for each extra user in the account.

To ensure that happens it will be sending verification codes to see who belongs on an account and who does not.

"One way or another, if you’re a hanger-on in someone else’s Netflix account, the company is coming for you. But at least the app won’t forget how much you loved Is It Cake? anymore." they said in a statement.

The streaming platform is already suffering a loss of more than a million subscribers and is looking for other ways to earn revenue.

In the same ‘Profile Transfer’, users will also be able to transfer their personalized recommendations, viewing history, saved games and other settings from one account to another.

This will be helpful for those who want to switch to another account and do not want to start from scratch. Your data will not be lost once you create a new account.

How to create a profile transfer

You have to be notified by email as soon as Profile Transfer becomes available on your account.

To transfer a profile, go to the “Transfer Profile” option when you hover over your profile icon in the dropdown menu on the homepage.

Then simply follow the instructions.

You can always turn off Profile Transfer in your account settings at any time.
