United States International University (USIU) STEM students are set to benefit from the newly launched fintech scholarship programme.

The programme which is a partnership between the campus and multi-asset broker, Exness, aims to support outstanding students in a STEM field and is open to third and fourth-year USIU undergraduates in Analytics, Data Science and Software Engineering.

It also seeks to support students who have accepted an offer for the MSc in Information Technology course starting in September 2023.

The scholarship will cover the full amount for tuition fees and living expenses of selected students.

Launching the Fintech Scholarships programme, Exness noted that Kenya is the third country to benefit from this scheme.

Kenya follows Cyprus, where last year, two students accepted scholarships to study at the University of Cambridge.

In South Africa, three students won the chance to pursue post-graduate studies at one of the country’s top universities, the University of Cape Town.

Exness head of community Martin Thorvaldsson said that launching the programme is a recognition of the importance of higher education for the youthful future.

“As we launch in yet another country, we are honoured to be part of this journey of excellent students in building their STEM careers and futures they dream of,” Thorvaldsson said.

“We strongly believe that technology and innovation are key sectors for every economy and as a fintech company, we are dedicated to supporting the minds that can contribute to their growth and development.”

USIU VC Magree Ensign noted that the fintech scholarships also aim to offer opportunities to young people from Kenya to achieve their full potential and aspirations in the technology scene.

As a university, we are so excited about our partnership with Exness. The scholarship degree programs of Data Science and Analytics, Software Engineering and Information Security are indeed game changers for the landscape of the 21st century," she said
