Wapi Pay has come out to strongly defend their co-founders Paul and Eddie Ndichu after they were involved in a scuffle with two women at a city hotel.
In a statement, Wapi Pay said the two found themselves in a confrontation that they wanted to neutralise and defend themselves from certain aggressors.
The company was reacting after the scuffle was widely shared across news outlets and social media.
"We found the story distasteful and troubling and want to firmly state that any type of behaviour involving violence against women does not reflect our values nor does it reflect those of Eddie and Paul," it said.
"Our understanding is that the allegations and video currently being shared on social media albeit horrific and regrettable, do not depict the true events of what transpired that night."
Wapi Pay however called the incident unfortunate and distasteful stating that they do not support any form of Gender-Based Violence.
"To be clear Paul and Eddie got involved in an attempt to neutralize a confrontation between two women and to defend themselves from certain aggressors," the company said.
"Pending this, we request restrain be exercised in potentially unfairly spreading misinformation that has no factual basis."
Wapi Pay said the matter is now under investigation and they wish to not comment on the matter further.
This comes as police said they received a complaint at Akila police station in South C and the matter is under investigation.
They promised to take action as soon as the complainant return their P3 form.
The matter was reported on October 17 at 5 pm.
Other officials said the complainants had reported they had settled the issue of malicious damage to property in respect to their car whose side mirror was damaged in the fracas.
“It is shocking they have settled it and they are yet to address the assault one. We are waiting,” said an officer aware of the probe.
